Yo! Sushi take IP telephony

A Japanese-cuisine restaurant chain is to deploy an IP telephony solution across its organisation, it has been reported.

Yo! Sushi will adopt the technology in 35 branches in a bid to reduce its operational costs, according to vnunet.com, with a further 15 restaurants expected to receive the solution over the next year.

The firm said the development is an attempt to introduce more unified communications as the new system able to integrate incoming calls with its customer database, while savings will be made by routing call though Yo! Sushi's London contact centre.

Billy Walters, Yo! Sushi IT manager, told the news provider: "The ongoing costs of line rental and telephony maintenance were becoming a significant overhead to the business and, as we had plans to double the number of outlets within two years, this was an appropriate time to review our overall telecoms strategy."

Mr Walters also revealed that the firm predicts the savings will be sufficient to pay for the IP telephony solution with two years.

Recently, office and IT equipment supplier CMYK Digital Solutions revealed it has installed a VoIP system to improve its communications system and reduce costs, according to VoIP News.
