UK VoIP market 'more advanced'

The UK VoIP market is the most advanced in Europe and is maturing further, according to one commentator. Speaking at a recent roundtable event concerning the future of the hosted voice solutions, Mike Wilkinson, director of European marketing at Broadsoft, has said that traditionally the UK has pioneered VoIP services alongside Germany and Italy. Quoted in Comms Business magazine, he added that Germany is currently around 12 months behind the UK market - where many providers are delivering combined business and mobile communications as a converged VoIP service. "Unified communication applications are also quickly becoming available such as the ability to deliver voicemails to a user's email box," he continued. Elsewhere, TMCnet comments that VoIP services are increasingly allowing businesses to benefit from high-end functionality, often at a reduced cost. The resource predicts explosive growth in the global VoIP market as more people begin to take advantage of the diverse benefits of IP telephony.
