Handset and signalling issues in VoIP 'being ironed out'

Issues in VoIP have been and are continuing to be resolved, it has been claimed.

Research by specialist UK VoIP analyst Illume found issues such as a lack of VoIP handsets and discrepancies over the type of signalling used have now been all but eradicated, commsbusiness.co.uk reports.

According to the website, there is now a vast range of VoIP handsets from budget models to the more expensive end of the spectrum, while SIP appears to have won the signalling battle and is now the accepted standard within the industry.

Illume said the hosted VoIP sector may be approaching a watershed but firms remain optimistic.

Matt Townend, managing director at Illume, added: "For those vendor's who's services are exclusively VoIP, we believe that their success will be intrinsically linked to their attractiveness to resellers and more specifically, what operational elements they can offer them."

According to ArticleAlley.com, the costs of VoIP technology are lower than many other forms of communication, leading increasing number of companies to sign up for VoIP services.
