Expert urges: 'Leave comfort zone and adopt VoIP'

Businesses should be willing to leave their "comfort zone" and switch to VoIP services, it is claimed.

An expert says that as telecommunications savings are not the first thing to come to mind, companies are often hesitant to try something "not familiar".

Vincent Potier, a VoIP specialist, claims there is an excellent opportunity for firms to save costs but many do not take the opportunity as they are worried VoIP will not work.

This, he says, is "actually the opposite of what is happening".

"It's weird because what drives people to stay with the known and tried is actually what reinforces the poor quality that the normal telecom companies deliver," the managing director of Vonage continues.

Recent research by T-Mobile claims 60 per cent of senior decision markers spend a minimum of five hours per day out of the office, equivalent to 32.5 working days a year.

Just over four in ten of these companies believe they pay too much for their mobile communications costs and 65 per cent believe they do not have the means to control the cost of international calls from mobile phones.
