VoIP 'becoming popular with small firms'

Reasons for small business owners to consider implementing VoIP have been highlighted.

According to a posting on article-orator.com, VoIP is currently the state of the art form of business communications, although until recently it was deployed mainly by large corporations and firms.

However, now VoIP is considered a mature proven technology, it is increasingly being used by small companies to realise the cost savings it can provide and can drive simple voice-chat software on a PC to a large-scale IP telephony network.

The article states: "The primary reason for migrating to VoIP is cost, as it equalises the costs of long-distance calls, local calls, and e-mails to fractions of a penny per use."

It also reveals that one internet connection can allow multiple phone lines to be used without loosing any functionality, reliability or voice quality.

Last week, the American and International Info Resources blog claimed VoIP could be the "technological innovation of the century", but advised bosses to find an experienced provider to help them implement the solution.
