VoIP recommended to business with 'good internet access'

Businesses able to find a good service provider should go for VoIP, it is claimed.

Alon Cohen, executive vice president and chief technology officer at phone.com, states that a decent, high-speed internet connection is a necessity to ensure a good quality service.

Many internet providers, he says, will provide higher priority to real time VoIP traffic to keep customers satisfied and this is crucial for voice quality.

Good redundant connectivity is also important for overall reliability and availability of service, Mr Cohen claims.

Overall, he suggests land lines cannot emulate the feeling of "sitting in the same room" which can be enjoyed via VoIP conversations.

Recent research by industry analyst Savatar found large companies have found their VoIP services reliable and 57 per cent stated they were an improvement on their previous system.

Processor.com reported users were so impressed that almost all firms with a workforce of over 100 staff would recommend VoIP.
