European telephony endpoints market 'to top 2,000 million euros by 2013'

The European business telephony endpoints markets was worth 1,277.3 million euros (£1,010 million) last year and is expected to reach 2,193.1 million euros in 2013, it has been revealed.

New analysis by Frost & Sullivan shows solid growth but also a tendency for companies to use existing phones when upgrading their systems.

It suggests vendors must present "a compelling offer, which guarantees immediate and tangible business benefits".

Dorota Oviedo, research analyst at Frost & Sullivan, commented that the overall growth rate in the endpoint market is greater than that of European GDP growth.

"This is attributed to the low penetration of IP phones in a relatively significant IP PBX installed base, the growing attractiveness of soft phone as a complementary client and the increase in demand for enterprise mobility solutions," he explained.

Meanwhile, it was revealed recently smart phone sales in the first quarter of 2008 in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) rose by 38.7 per cent.

Industry analysts Gartner found 11.7 million units were sold in the EMEA region, while 32.2 million units were shifted worldwide.
