SMB's 'preparing to get on board with VoIP'

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMB's) are ready to jump aboard the VoIP bandwagon, according to an industry expert.

The VoIP market is currently enjoying strong growth and according to AMI, worldwide spending in IP telephony will reach $4.5 billion (£2.25 billion) during 2008.

Marek Kotelba, marketing director of Texas Instrument's Communications Infrastructure and Voice Business wrote in an article for Converge Digest: "VoIP service providers, value-added resellers (VARs) and others are bundling together a wide range of services and products that not only address the SMB's voice communication needs but also increase their comfort level with this new VoIP technology."

He went on to explain that the advantages which SMB's receive through using VoIP are voice quality, service cost, service reliability and supplementary service.

In order to overcome the initial caution of SMB's over the new technology, resellers are offering a wide range of services as bundles along with the VoIP systems.

Texas Instruments designs and manufactures analogue technologies, digital signal processing and microcontroller semiconductors.
