Unified communications market 'still growing'

The market for unified communications is still growing, according to a recent survey of solutions providers.

The Everything Channel's 2008 State of Technology: Networking survey found that 40 per cent of solutions providers are selling unified communications, while a further 13 per cent have plans to start selling VoIP in the near future.

According to those surveyed, customers are becoming increasingly interested in unified communications in a bid to increase productivity.

Robert Keblusek, senior vice president of business development at solutions provider Sentinel Technologies, told CRN.com: "A lot of it has to do with experience and scale, having a proven track record on installations."

He added that customers are "eager" to unify VoIP with technologies such as email, chat and presence.

It was revealed recently that unified communications are continuing to develop on business mobile devices.

IT management reported that worker demands of increased mobility and the promise of greater staff productivity is leading more businesses to adopt such solutions on their mobile phones.
