Unified communications 'better with integrated approach'

Integrating systems, technologies and technology vendors will help firms when they deploy a unified communications solution, it has been claimed. According to Dimension Data, an integrated approach can help businesses avoid high administrative costs and the risk of creating security loopholes, TechWorld reports. In addition, using separate communication tools may not help employees contact each other as they may not be able to identify the best way to reach their colleagues. Using a unified communications solution will give workers the ability to contact fellow employees on the most convenient channel as well as providing them with the option of easily merging or switching methods. The company suggested "it's no wonder then that many organisations worldwide are taking the first steps in unifying their business communications channels in order to improve their employees' productivity", the news provider reveals. Recently, principal of UniComm Consulting LLC Marty Parker wrote on VoiceCon the credit crunch may push forward the use of unified communications, as firms look to innovate and cut costs.
