Unified comms 'the next big thing'

The recent discussion of the positive gains of the convergence of email, voice and instant messaging through unified communications is well justified, a new report states. Analysts at Processor assert that unified communications are an effective way to streamline communications in a business environment that has made effective interaction increasingly difficult. The report asserts that unified communications can benefit business of all sizes, with gains to be made in a range of areas. "If managed properly, presence systems can play a crucial role ... by allowing employees to control the preferred means of communication based on current status," the publication explains. Network World has also recently commented on the rise of unified communications, with the next few years touted as an exciting time for business voice solutions. The publication states that the service has become much more than just a desktop application and is capable of delivering streamlined interaction across a range of platforms.
