Unified comms 'beneficial for diverse industries'

An industry analyst has compiled a global case study to illustrate the successful applications of unified communications.

Writing on UCstrategies, Blair Pleasant states that the list has been assembled to highlight the many different business benefits of converged voice and data systems.

One such application at Danish-based Jyske Bank has allowed a system to be put in place that speeds up customer service by automatically searching for suitable staff based on clients' requests.

"Customers entering a branch are greeted by a 'host' at an 'AskBar,' who transfers the customer to an appropriate staff member simply by looking at their presence information on a screen," she asserts.

Another logistics company is using a unified communications system to streamline the delivery of high-cost materials with a minimum of loss, allowing for both cost savings and increased revenue potential.

UK analyst Alex Donnelly has also recently touted the benefits of a unified communications system, asserting that it is "breaking down barriers" and allowing businesses to deliver streamlined services on a number of platforms.
