UC key to addressing business efficiencies and carbon footprint

Unified communications (UC) is a key technology which can help businesses achieve the dual goals of processing efficiencies and addressing carbon footprint consumption, IDC has claimed.

The market intelligence firm is set to host a UC event on May 29th in New Zealand to explore how companies globally can bridge the gap between communications applications and systems that "do not interoperate".

It claims UC "holds the promise" of meeting communications needs comprehensively.

Rosalie Nelson, research manager at IDC, said business communications are on the "cusp of a new era" in which it will help IT workers' speed and accuracy.

She continued: "UC transforms commonplace business applications into smart intuitive collaborative environments for instant decision-making and fast turnaround."

A recent report suggested the need for businesses to adopt UC is becoming increasingly pressing.

IT Director argued that while there are more methods of conducting business communications than ever before, there is also a greater chance that connectivity will become disunified.
