Terminal 5 seamless comms tested

A robust unified communications deployment that will soon serve Heathrow's Terminal 5 building has put been put through its paces.

Nearly 3,000 volunteers acted as test customers in the pilot, which saw passengers going through the various stages of check-in, baggage drop and boarding to test the operational efficiency of the unified communications deployment.

All requirements were met in the test and British Airways has announced that the system is now ready to go live on March 27th.

In a recent statement, the aviation group said that the unified communications system was vital in an industry where mission-critical services needed to be supplied without interruption or delay - a statement that is of relevance to a large number of private and public sector organisations.

St Helen's and Knowlsey Hospitals NHS Trust have also recently seen the diverse benefits of a unified communications system, with a converged network linking 160 GP surgeries, health centres and hospitals across the region.
