Presence is 'the future' of unified communications

A new technology that allows businesses to automatically contact staff on the most immediate device available to them has been hailed as "the future" of unified communications by an industry analyst. Writing on online industry journal SearchVoIP, Brien Posey has today announced that presence will save firms time and streamline their business communications. "Presence maintains real-time information about a person's availability. As such, it is possible for presence-enabled applications to make intelligent decisions about how to contact a person." Mr Posey has authored thousands of technical articles, tips and whitepapers and heads an online community committed to technological development and advice. He states that the technology could use unified communications systems to check an employee's calendar to pin-point where they are located and could then contact them on the most appropriate device.
