New IP PBXs target small business

Internet Protocol Public branch exchange (IP PBX) providers began to increase development of products that are specifically designed with small businesses in mind, it has been revealed.

A new study by Telecoms Tactics has found that around 60 per cent of new products seen on the market last year were targeted at small businesses.

The study also found that IP PBX vendors are also looking to provide unified communications productivity for smaller businesses, providing the functionality of a fully-integrated telephone and data network.

One analyst states on TMCnet: "We found that many businesses were struggling with, or avoiding altogether, deploying high-value communications applications due to their complexity and cost."

The report predicts that throughout 2008, full unified communications deployments will become more cost-effective for a wider range of businesses.

VoIPnews also reported recently that unified communications deployments are becoming increasingly accessible for commercial organisations with diverse network requirements.
