Five unified comms tips for businesses

Businesses should look to replace their existing public branch exchange networks as new IP-based systems begin to take over, Computer World advises.

As this happens, firms should aim to familiarise themselves with the new levels of functionality and efficiency on offer, the publication says.

It also advises businesses to identify return on investment (ROI) opportunities when looking to install a unified communications platform.

A report by Lippis also recommends that businesses looking to adopt unified communications systems independently assess ROI models for their network, with a benchmark set at a 15 per cent increase in productivity.

Voice communications will also become more diverse under a converged system, which companies need to manage "using IT governance techniques", the report says.

IT managers are also encouraged to familiarise themselves with the latest advances in unified communications technology, in order to procure the best network solution for their company.
