Development of UC on mobiles continues

Unified communications (UC) are continuing to develop on business mobile devices as well as in the desktop environment, it has been revealed.

Website IT Management reports worker demands of increased mobility and the promise of greater staff productivity is leading more businesses to adopt UC on mobile phones.

It is claimed UC could change how employees work and businesses operate, with seamless communications allowing for handsets to be moved from one network to another without the need to reset an IP PBX.

Vanessa Alvarez, an analyst with the US-based Yankee Group, told internetnews.com she believes mobile UC will provide true return of investment on these products.

She added: “The holy grail of mobile UC will be when you can seamlessly use all your communications applications within a click.”

Tools such as chat, instant messaging, VoIP and video conferencing will be used under this system according to the group.

Yankee Group is an independent technology research and consultancy firms which gives insight and counsel into changes in connectivity and how they will affect organisations.
