Banks 'benefiting from unified communications'

The largest bank in the United Arab Emirates has decided to address its global business communications challenges by adopting a new system linking its branches throughout the world.

Businesses in the UK intending to take up the latest voice communications technology to improve the running of their operations may be interested in observations from the National Bank of Abu Dhabi.

It stated that voice quality and strong levels of security were paramount given its states as a large financial institution, Al Bawaba reports.

"With our plans for expansion, it's important to have a converged communications network that is secure, reliable and that seamlessly links our branches to the head office, allowing employees access to the communication tools they need from wherever they are," explains Srood A Sherif, chief information officer of NBAD.

He added that formerly the bank's efforts to increase efficiency were frustrated by disparate systems unable to inform one another.

Other banks across the globe have also adopted similar unified communications infrastructures to provide a suitable platform for their activities, including Deutsche Bank and the Bank of America.
