BGL adopts unified communications

UK-based insurance broker BGL has opted for unified communications system that will see combined internal handling of all its VoIP services.

The firm made the move to ensure that its daily business communications could continue uninterrupted on a reliable platform, reports CBR.

BGL was founded in 1992 as an insurance under-writer but made the strategic switch to brokerage in 1997. Since then it has attracted a continually expanding number of clients, currently numbering around two million.

Andrew Beehoo, senior telecomms engineer for the company, stated the immediate benefits of switching to a centralised system.

"Immediately we realised the manageability of the system is far easier because there is a central point for administration," he said.

The multi-platform reliability is also set to be a key factor in maintaining clear and reliable communications in the future, he commented.

BGL reached a two million policies milestone in October 2007, only two years after reaching the one million mark, showing the company's rapid expansion in recent times.
