Convenience 'provided by unified communication'

The increased efficiency unified communications allow makes the solution a popular choice with businesses, it has been claimed. Louis Yssel, chief executive of YSL Group, told IT Web that many people concentrate on the financial savings the technology creates but he drew attention to other benefits. He suggests that convergence increases convenience rather than savings and said businesses communications can often be problematic for those who rely on several methods of contact. Mr Yssel told the news provider: "The cellphone, the desk phone, the e-mail, the voice mail, the SMSs, faxes and now even video messages can be a bit overwhelming. "Juggling between all these modes of communication, which are often linked to different devices, is frustrating." However, the expert points out solutions such as unified communications allow all these devices to be linked in a single centre, making messaging easier and more convenient.
