VoIP "a done deal" for most firms

In an article mapping five key trends to watch in the unified communications market, it has been suggested that most businesses have either already installed VoIP services, or are in the process of doing so.

According to Network World, because of the widespread deployment of VoIP services, many businesses will now be looking to move beyond IP telephony and into full converged communications.

"VoIP adoption is pretty much a done deal for most enterprises - or at least a deal in progress," the resource comments.

Currently, most firms are looking at strategies to most effectively introduce unified communications to their business model, the publication states, with interoperability stated as being high on the corporate agenda.

Unified communications are also becoming increasingly popular in the contact centre and are said to be "opening the door" to business-to-business and business-to-consumer opportunities.

Elsewhere, the resource states that some businesses are still slow to realise the value of converged services, which are reported to deliver cost savings and boost productivity.
