Bandwidth management 'key to business comms'

Companies looking to create a telecoms system supporting video and voice need to assess and prioritise high bandwidth services, according to an industry analyst. In setting up a video and voice network, firms must establish the expected call volumes for the services and estimate the bandwidth required to handle the flow of data, writes John Bartlett in No Jitter. Bandwidth management is a vital concern for firms looking to stay on top of their business communications, he adds. He argues that the simplest solution is the deployment of an Internet Protocol Public Branch Exchange (IP-PBX) system, which has an in-built facility designed to monitor and manage the total number of calls that can be handled on a network at any given time.
