Telecom expense management 'worth investing in'

Telecom expense management and IP telephony systems have been highlighted as areas which businesses should continue to invest in. Writing on CFO Daily News, Jennifer Azara claims the current economic climate means firms should be attempting to make savings on their IT budget where they can. However, she points out that telecom expense management could make sense in the current conditions, explaining: "IT experts swear this is one service that easily pays for itself many times over." Furthermore, Ms Azara claims embracing emerging technologies such as IP telephony and VoIP can cut operating costs and should be deployed when IT systems are changed or updating. In the article, it is also recommended that spending can be cut back on in some areas of IT, with unused software and modules and unnecessary servers being singled out as worthy of budget reductions. Last month, US firm Remote Data Backup suggested outsourcing IT activities such as storage and document management can lead to financial savings.
