A strategic approach to IT outsourcing can help businesses increase their decision making efficiency, it has been claimed. Research by analysts Freeform Dynamics revealed companies need to align various approaches so they can make decisions. Then technologically progressive companies can analyse what can be kept in-house and what needs to be outsourced. Freeform Dynamics states the study proves there is a clear link between IT organisations that deliver services strategically and the impression they give to clients. It adds: "More importantly perhaps, there was also a correlation with stock market performance. It is a positive sign and adds considerable weight to the argument that IT can operate as more than just a cost centre." Meanwhile, research firm Gartner is set to hold a conference in the US at the end of this month to discuss outsourcing trends.
