IT outsourcing opportunities 'to grow'

Concerns over the current economic climate could result in an increase in the use of IT outsourcing, an analyst has claimed. According to the ICT Opportunities in an Economic Downturn report from Frost & Sullivan, IT outsourcing firms will be a point of call of other enterprises looking to benefit from the cost savings they allow. In addition, technology businesses which provide knowledge management, customer relationship management and business intelligence solutions may see opportunities arise because of the economic downturn. Businesses which offer services such as managed handsets and network services may also experience increased demand, the analyst claims. Andrew Milroy, ICT director at IDC, comments: "We believe that there are opportunities for solutions and services that can help organisations to cut costs, change cost structures, or increase productivity." Yesterday (October 28th), EquaTerra's Advisor and BPO/ITO Service Provider Pulse Survey 3Q08 revealed IT outsourcing remains the top tool businesses use to implement organisational change.
