'Consider UK-based outsourcing'

Firms looking to use IT outsourcing should consider companies based in the UK, it has been claimed. Mark Kobayashi-Hillary, writing on markkobayashihillary.computing.co.uk, cites a recent study which found India is the top offshoring destination. In addition, the research from Tholons, which was reported in Global Services magazine, reveals the country has six cities into the top eight, while Birmingham and Leeds have fallen out of the leading 50. However, Mr Kobayashi-Hillary counters: "Both of these locations are actually hotbeds of regional talent in the UK. "Perhaps the global downturn may actually encourage more regional talent and entrepreneurialism in countries like the UK?" Mr Kobayashi-Hillary also notes that no Chinese locations are present on the top 50 IT outsourcing list, but highlights that many cities are in the 'up-and-coming' ranking. The research discovered while individual cities play an important role in a country's performance in IT outsourcing, government and industry organisations also work to set policy and provide direction, Global Services reveals.
