Biffa agrees network deal with Azzurri

Waste management firm Biffa has agreed a deal with Azzurri Communications after a telecoms audit of its voice and data communications found cost savings could be made, it has been reported.

According to Computer Weekly UK, Biffa is also set to reduce the risk of network failure by allowing Azzurri to manage network solutions on its behalf.

It hopes the converged wide area network, which will connect 5,200 employees over 160 sites, will also help improve communication.

Val Austin, IT manager at Biffa, told the news provider with a managed service it will be able to remove "the constant churn of maintenance tasks".

She added: "Furthermore, the virtual network operator attributes of Azzurri means we are able to continually evolve and refresh our core IT infrastructure as the business grows and new technologies emerge."

It was revealed recently that Martin McColl, the country's largest chain of convenience and newsagent stores has also agreed a five-year deal with Azzurri.

The £4 million will see the company provided with a retail application network across its 1,300 stores, headquarters and partner sites.
