Clear communications 'deliver business returns'

A new report has found that companies that deploy effective business communications strategies delivered nearly 50 per cent higher returns than companies that do not have an adequate system in place. The Watson Wyatt 2007/2008 2007-08 Communications Return on Investment (ROI) study involved polling more than 260 companies worldwide to assess ROI data for the period between 2002 and 2006. The survey also found that firms with effective business communications are also four times more likely to report higher levels of employee engagement than businesses without adequate communications tools, the Financial Post reports. Following the survey, John Finney, senior communications consultant at the company, has advised firms to focus on securing an effective business communications strategy. He states: "We think it's a necessity to being successful in business." "Before you launch a communication program, take a step back and think of it in business terms," he advises. Elsewhere, CNN Money also advises businesses to examine the increased ROI possibilities that streamlined business communications can deliver, with the emergence of web-based communications technologies said to present lucrative opportunities for of all sizes.
