Remote working 'brings benefits to employees'

Equipping staff with products such as VoIP to carry out remote working could lead to them realising financial savings and a better work life balance, research suggests.

A recent study discovered commuters could save up to £174 between now and Christmas if technology such as VoIP was deployed to allow them to work from home one day a week, onrec.com reports.

Michael Calvert, from Aastra, which commissioned the research, told the news provider: "Commuters equipped with the right, readily-available technology, could save money and lower their stress levels by taking advantage of flexible working practices."

He also pointed out that companies could benefit from more use of remote working practices, citing advantages such as higher morale, lower energy costs and improved staff retention.

In addition, Mr Calvert claimed using VoIP can improve business communications as well as lower cost of their calls.

Recently, SearchUnifiedCommunications.co.uk suggested small firms can reduce their costs by deploying unified communications.

The news source pointed out that the technology can see mobile and international calls costs fall, as well as allowing greater use of telecommuting.
