IT managers set to face challenges as remote working increases

Remote working is on the increase across the world, which presents challenges for IT managers, it has been claimed.

Over 41 million workers worldwide now spend at least one day per week out of the office, while 3.5 million UK employees work from home, reports Hrzone.co.uk.

This means companies have to provide methods for their staff to get in touch with the office wherever they are based.

According to the website, business should ideally provide the same level of communications and IT capabilities for home workers, while business mobiles are recommended for remote working staff.

Ian McGurk, head of security consulting at IT company Plan Net, said there are a variety of products from which to choose.

He added: "Just knowing what to buy and what's going to give you the greatest value is, for many IT managers, probably one of the greatest headaches."

It has been claimed that managers have been encouraged to offer staff more remote working opportunities following Work Wise Week.

The Trade Unions Congress also claimed employees can concentrate better on their jobs by working from home, avoiding commutes and office distractions.
