Productivity 'increasing due to remote working'

Only 16 per cent of employees spend all their working hours in the office but over half believe their productivity has increased over the past five years, according to a study.

The independent research commissioned by GN Netcom revealed 56 per cent of the 150 British office workers surveyed felt improved technology for remote working has let them work "smarter not harder".

Mobile devices, laptops, remote network access and wireless headsets are also said to allow remote working staff to do their jobs effectively.

Jan McNair, vice president of GN Office Business, stated it is crucial that as remote working grows in popularity businesses give their employees the "correct business tools" to do jobs to their full potential.

She added: "By doing so organisations can ensure that employees don't have to work longer hours to get their job done properly."

Meanwhile, whatpc.com has urged business to refocus on looking after their employees and actively encourage remote working to take advantage of increased productivity during the credit crunch.
