'Remote working taking place in variety of locations'

Employees are carrying out remote working in a variety of sometimes unusual locations, according to a new report.

Research conducted by flexible working provider Regus highlighted that more than half of British workers now spend at least half a day per week working from a public place, reports Personnel Today.

In order to ensure privacy, the UK's workforce has undertaken work-related tasks in a variety of unusual locations.

Hotel lobbies appear to be a popular place to conduct business, with 58 per cent of respondents stating they have worked in such a location.

A further 57 have worked remotely from a car park, 46 per cent from a shopping centre and 35 per cent from a park or outdoor area.

Topping the list of unusual remote working locations is public bathrooms, which 16 per cent of those questioned claim to have utilised for a business task.

Meanwhile, a Business Green article recently asserted that businesses should encourage staff to work remotely, after Microsoft research highlighted employees are reluctant to work from home for fear it may diminish their job security.
