Polycom launches new HD video conferencing solutions

High definition (HD) technology may have taken over living rooms, but now it is set to spread to offices with the new video conferencing suite from Polycom.

The HDX 8000 series of conferencing solutions for small or medium-sized meeting rooms is aimed at bringing high quality picture and sound to connections, while also allowing easy sharing of data between meeting attendees.

According to Polycom's senior vice president and general manager of video solutions Joe Sigrist, these new products are set to bring HD video conferencing to "classrooms, meeting rooms, offices, executive desktops and beyond".

He added that the upgraded series "simultaneously improves the user's experience and enables high quality video conferencing to be reliably deployed and used over a broader range of IP network environments".

Connecting up meeting rooms using video conferencing technology can improve communications between parts of a business or add more of a human element when making a call to a client.

In addition, they can provide a record of the meeting, which can prove useful in order to check on key details or if the hard copy minutes are misplaced.
