With mobile comunications becoming evermore complex, CNN has highlighted the commercial gains that can be made in a case study of one business that is running all its operations using mobile devices. Demonstrating the diverse applications of mobile network solutions, the news agency examines the gains that have been made by demolition and haulage company Lloyd's Construction. In a fairly low-tech business industry, the company is making use of mobile connectivity to streamline business logistics and co-ordinate multiple projects, which were previously handled using spreadsheets and paper forms, with business communications undertaken on radios. Despite a slow transition on the part of some of the mobile workforce, adopting a new mobile communications strategy has helped to reduce costs and streamline the business in a number of ways. Real-time presence features for example, alerted managers to the fact that their logistics workers were taking unscheduled stops, slowing the delivery process. Meanwhile, analysis firm In-Stat reports that the multi-function mobile device market enjoyed considerable growth in 2007 as an increasing number of businesses realised the benefits of the services.
