Increasing use of VoIP on mobiles 'making phone quality important'

The "reliability and quality" of business mobiles is becoming more important as increasing numbers of workers use them for VoIP services, it has been claimed.

Research by industry analyst Quocirca for RadioFrame Networks argues their reliability will need to improve as more people use VoIP on their mobile devices.

Rob Bamforth, the main author of the study and a principal analyst at Quocirca, said mobile phones are the "hub" of business life.

Mark Keenan, general manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa at the analysts, said: "Employees are increasingly using their mobile devices for a widening range of applications – data, video and even VoIP."

He added operators who can come up with more reliable business mobiles will be in a "strong market position".

It was revealed recently that the development of unified communications on business mobile devices is continuing.

The IT Management website reported demands of increased mobility by IT workers and the prospect of greater staff productivity is leading increasing numbers of businesses to adopt unified communications on mobile phones.
