Bluetooth 'boosts mobile working'

Implementing Bluetooth in the office could allow companies to become more flexible, it has been suggested.

Chris Roberts, country director for the UK at Parrot, said the mobile communications solution is just one example of technologies which allow employees to work on the move.

He explained: "Office products are fully portable. If you get chucked out of a meeting room you can just walk down the corridor and start again. That's what it's all about."

A recent event hosted by Bluetooth Special Interest Group a range of products which can be controlled by the mobile communications technology were showcased.

Hands-free devices, printers, headsets and smartphones were displayed, in addition to a demonstration of how Bluetooth can work with the Personal Area Network to connect to small devices, including watches, monitors and remote displays.

A study by ABI Research predicted Bluetooth will reach 95 per cent penetration by the end of the year, while other wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi and ultra-wideband are expected to see a rise in popularity.
