Wales to hold European IT conference

A European ICT conference is to be held in Wales this year and will concentrate on economic and social developments in the industry. Wales will be held as a positive example at the European Regional Information Society Association (Eris) annual conference, which is to be held next month. It is expected several hundred industry professionals will flock to the event, which will explore approaches to the industry and debate best practice approaches to investment in infrastructure. Gareth Hughes, the chief executive officer of Eris, said: "Our role is to facilitate partnership, providing resources and sharing best practice policy delivery to maximise the potential of ICT as an enabler of economic development and social cohesion." He added that Wales had been chosen as it is a "positive example" of how regional government can work with the industry. The conference will be entitled 'Opportunities and Rewards for Regional Development through ICT: New Paradigms-New Challenges' and will run from June 11th to 13th.
