Professionals 'worried about security'

A recent study has found that business security professionals are worried that they do not have an adequate data protection system in place. Vnunet.com reports that around 70 per cent of those interviewed in the study said that their current authentication measures were insufficient for business needs. Positive Networks interviewed 300 professionals to compile the study, finding that around 20 per cent of respondents had admitted to a corporate data-security breach in recent times. Authentication for business communications was identified as a serious or high level concern by 84 per cent of those interviewed. Firms also stated that usernames and passwords alone were not sufficient forms of security, but many said they struggled with the complexity of implementing robust secure business communications systems. The news follows a recent report that mobile workers are currently ignoring security procedures when accessing information out of the office. An annual Cisco report found that over 50 per cent of IT managers were concerned that their workers were less diligent about security than they were a year ago.
