Networks are 'the backbone of businesses'

Network management is crucial to business communications and it is more important than ever, one analyst claims. Tony Lock reports that in spite of the necessity of effective infrastructure in today's business climate, many firms are still taking their deployments for granted. He adds that today's managers need to "perform a fine balancing act" between supporting new forms of technology and working within tight budget requirements. Mr Lock asserts that only when new business communications such as wireless connectivity and remote working are under control can network managers operate effectively. "Even in organisations of modest scale, such factors conspire to ensure network management gets more difficult by the day," he states in Computing magazine. Meanwhile another analyst also demonstrates the complexity of managing wired and wireless networks effectively. Sarah Gittlen asserts on Techworld that a number of UK companies are struggling to streamline communications networks to make them work effectively.
