Businesses not supported by broadband services
 
Many businesses are reporting their broadband services are not getting the support and service needed, meaning high costs for firms.

A report from Quocirca found IT professionals said challenges prevented them from receiving the correct level of service they were promised when signing their contract, reports ComputerWorld.co.uk.

The research found as more firms are now running an online business it is important they have faults fixed within a day, as it represents a loss of revenue.

Timothy Francis, head of IT and financial services firm Blue Index, told the website: "Damage to reputation, when you can’t serve your clients because of an internet problem, is even worse."

Businesses were also keen to see real value compensation awarded for revenues lost when lines fail, rather than a refund of service costs during the time lines were out of order.

Rob Bamforth, a principal analyst at Quocirca, told the website these kind of faults are likely to cause people to switch providers.

Sainsbury's recently experienced a large scale internet failing, when its online store halted, meaning customers could not buy groceries via the website.
