Britain 'must not fall behind' with broadband

The provision of high-speed broadband services must not lag behind competitors in foreign markets, it has been claimed. Such a deficit would have a significant negative effect on the British market, asserts Kip Meek of the Broadband Stakeholders' Group. His comments follow a recent independent review recently announced by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform that looks to examine the way that broadband services will be delivered in the future. In an effort to support robust business communications requirements, Mr Meek advised that high-speed data infrastructure upgrades should be managed in a collaborative way, with broadband suppliers and governmental departments working together to ensure that adequate services are available. Business and competitiveness minister Shriti Vadera recently claimed that providing adequate high speed network solutions would be vital for ensuring continued commercial growth in the coming years.
