Analyst predicts top trends for 2008

Tomorrow (January 22nd) will see the release of a report by Deloitte looking at top telecoms trends for 2008. A spokesperson has told CB Magazine that new mobile technologies will become more varied and widespread in the coming year. Tony Cooper, telecoms partner at Deloitte, which offers a range of audit, tax and financial consultancy services, says 2008 will also see firms assessing how fast their networks need to be. "Concerns over the cost of financing will cause telecommunications companies and their shareholders to question far more aggressively the business case for speed," he says. He also predicts that communications in the coming year will be "more vibrant than ever" as a number of innovative technologies start to replace the older maturing GSM markets. Deloitte's predictions follow a report by Datamonitor indicating that only one in six telecoms managers in Europe, North America and Asia expect to see a cut in IT budgets in 2008, reports ZDnet.
